Angie Baker - Assistant Coach

| My passion for competitive swimming began while splashing around in the pools and lakes of Redding, CA. Growing up on the pool deck was a challenging and fun experience for me, and I hope to create an enjoyable environment for kids to grow as athletes and individuals. I moved to the North Coast and became a proud member of the Water Dog family in 2003. After earning a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Recreation from Humboldt State University, my husband and I moved to Berlin, Germany, where I interned as a Physical Education teacher. Upon returning to Humboldt, I dove head first into the coaching job I love so much, working mainly with the Green and Silver groups. When not coaching, I enjoy running in the redwoods and surfing the coast. Go Water Dogs!

| Swimming has been a part of my life since I was three, competing on my local Cabana team in the
summers as a child, and then joining USS swimming at ten, swimming with DeAnza Cupertino Aquatics
and Santa Clara Swim Club down south in the Bay Area. I have had the great opportunity to be trained
by highly qualified coaches while swimming for both teams and cannot wait to incorporate the skills,
techniques, and philosophies that allowed me to be the swimmer and person I am today. I have been
living in Arcata for the last two years, studying Elementary Education at Humboldt State University
and am finishing up with my degree this coming spring. When I am not in school, I enjoy reading, art,
and surfing, and am always trying to find time to get in the pool to swim some laps. I am very proud
to be a part of the growing Water Dog family.

| I have been coaching with Humboldt Swim Club for four years. My love for the sport comes from
my own years of competitive swimming. While growing up in Seattle, I swam, year-round,
for 12 years. I also played many other sports which helped me develop great athleticism
and time management. I coach the Green Group. I work with the new team members, helping them
develop skills for competitive swimming. It is an awesome experience working with and sharing my
knowledge of swimming with the Water Dogs. The kids and the coaches make this more exciting
every day; I am proud to be a part of this team.
